Support for Artists & Arts Organizations

TAEA is a national arts service organization. We support artists, teaching artists, designers, directors, dramaturgs, producers, and arts organizations with artist-led training, national showcasing pathways, and sector resources—linking creative work in classrooms and studios to Canada’s professional theatre community.

What we offer

  • Professional Development (artist-led): Skills labs in performance, directing, writing, design/tech, producing, consent/safety, and DEI-informed practice.

  • Mentorships & Residencies: Short, structured pairings with experienced artists and organizations; portfolio and practice development.

  • Showcase Pathways: Curated opportunities (via STAR Fest and partner series) to present works-in-progress, receive professional feedback, and connect with presenters—non-competitive and growth-focused.

  • Sector Resources: Canadian-context rubrics, rehearsal tools, production templates, and checklists—free or low cost.

  • Presenter & Partner Connections: Intros to festivals, companies, schools, and post-secondary programs across provinces/territories.

How to participate

  1. Join training: Browse upcoming artist-led labs and PD.

  2. Share work: Apply to a National STAR Showcase (works-in-progress welcome).

  3. Request mentorship/advising: Book office hours or propose a short residency.

  4. Use our resources: Download rubrics, guides, and templates; adapt for your context.

  5. Partner with us: Co-host a hub, workshop, or showcase in your region.

  6. Join our TAEA National Teaching Artists Directory and connect with schools across Canada
