We are incredibly excited to share with you an amazing price drop this year! Thanks to the generous support of the Theatrical Arts Education Association, participation for each student is only $10! This makes the MYDF the most cost accessible educational theatre festival in the city of Winnipeg!

Date & Location

The 49th Manitoba Youth Drama Festival (MYDF) will take place on May 22nd at the University of Winnipeg’s Theatre and Film Building! This exciting festival is for students in grades 7-12, regardless of experience level, and runs during school hours from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Registration for each day will open on March 1st. 

Workshops
The morning sessions feature fantastic workshops led by industry professionals, covering a wide range of subjects to inspire and enhance your students’ skills. Each student will participate in two workshops from a variety of topics and themes. 

Performances
In the afternoon, schools may submit a One-Act, Short Play, Devised Theatre Piece, Improv show, or any other performance style to showcase with the other festival attendees! There is also optional adjudication from working theatre professionals to help give guidance and encouragement to the student performing artists.

Teacher Professional Development
Teachers who attend can take advantage of optional professional development provided by the Manitoba Drama Educators Association (MDEA)! This is a free PD opportunity for teachers who bring students to the festival!

Additional Incentives

If a school brings at least 20 students to the MYDF, they will receive a complimentary professional TAEA membership AND the first year of a STAR Troupe courtesy of TAEA – a $229.00 value!
